The Computer Ghost is a story about ghosts, family, and the spaces between screens. On this land, for tens of thousands of years, First Nations peoples have told stories of spirits — often far more powerful than the ghost in this book.

This song, by the Yolŋu band Yothu Yindi, has always stayed with me. It says that we can be different — different languages, different stories, different ghosts — and still belong to the same shore.
The Warlpiri and Kriol editions of The Computer Ghost exist because of that idea. My Hungarian ghosts don't become Australian. They become guests. And a guest, in this old country, begins by listening.
Two living First Nations languages.
The Computer Ghost is one of the very few children's books in the world to be translated into Warlpiri (Yuendumu dialect) and Australian Kriol.
These translations are not a novelty. They are a responsibility.
The Warlpiri edition opens with a special statement from the author — a conversation with the Hungarian ghosts who appear in the book. It is called the Respect section.
